Speaking to MMA Interviews, Griffin was quite candid as he stated that he wished he were a Heavyweight fighter and that is something he has thought about on several occasions. He mentioned if he had a better chin, then he probably would have been a Heavyweight fighter in Mixed Martial Arts, adding that his chin would not support the heavy punches a Heavyweight fighter can land. Moreover, Forrest Griffin also stated that he thinks he has the strength to be a Heavyweight fighter but mentioned that his bad chin and lack of punching power would have made life very tough for him in the heavier division.

Since he won the very first season of The Ultimate Fighter reality show of the UFC, Griffin has spent his entire career in the Light Heavyweight division of the promotion, winning the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship as well. His record currently stands at 9-6 in the UFC and has also won three Fight of the Year awards at the end of season UFC gala nights.

Forrest Griffin is currently out of action after winning his trilogy of fights against long time rival Tito Ortiz last summer at UFC 148, during which he suffered an ACL strain and an MCL tear, injuries that have kept him out of action since then and are expected to prevent him from returning to action this year.

Griffin, who is an avid user of the popular social networking site Twitter, gives regular updates of his injury on the site and it was via Twitter that he updated fans about the condition of his knee recently. He took to the site to assure fans that the doctors he has been consulting have admitted that the knee is doing great before adding that he will be able to train again within the next six or seven months. But Forrest Griffin added that his definition and the doctors’ definition of ‘great’ is not the same and mentioned that being on the sidelines was a bore.

However, the former champion in the UFC appears to be in high spirits despite being sidelined with the injury but he is having fun spending his time talking about matches and offering his predictions on matches.

Forrest Griffin was supposed to take on Chael Sonnen for the first match of the American in the Light heavyweight division since making the move from Middleweight, but after Sonnen was taken from the non-title bout to be given a shot at Jon Jones’ title, Griffin was rather incensed but things were made even morbid for the former champion as he was sidelined with the knee injury.

According to Jackson, whoever thinks that Forrest Griffin beat him in their title fight is nothing but a bigot at heart. Speaking during the interview, Rampage stated that he got injured and couldn’t find Glover Teixeira, but he also didn’t want to wait too long. Just then, Griffin’s opponent Chael Sonnen pulled out of their match and he thought he could set up a fight against him. He mentioned that he doesn’t care and he would fight Forrest now and still fight Glover later. He then went on to state that everyone knows the he has been gunning for a rematch with him and mentioned that anyone who has the slightest understanding of the sport and is not a bigot at heart will know he beat him on the night.

Rampage also mentioned that the likes of Ryan Bader, Phil Davis and Chael Sonnen are extremely boring fighters and also added that no fight intrigues him as much as the fight against Forrest Griffin and he added that he would fight against him anywhere and everywhere. He also stated that leaving the UFC would be a decision that would make him happy in the long run.

It was just last week that the former champion learned that his opponent for UFC 155, Chael Sonnen, had been pulled out of the event to feature as a mentor at The Ultimate Fighter season 17 alongside the UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones. But that hasn’t fazed the American and Forrest Griffin has already agreed to face up and coming Light Heavyweight fighter Phil ‘Mr. Wonderful’ Davis, according to the reports that are emanating out of the promotion.

Jon Jones will fight Sonnen for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship in April, 2013 and although he lost the opportunity to fight one of his arch enemies, Griffin doesn’t mind it at all. What makes the fight even more interesting is the fact that both men are coming off wins in their last matches. Moreover, with Davis becoming one of the best up and coming talents to come up in the Light Heavyweight division, it makes for an extremely interesting match between the old and new guards of the promotion.

But Forrest Griffin has always been known to rise up to the challenge in front of him and there is little doubt that he will not do so against Mr. Wonderful at UFC 155.

According to Ortiz, the use of TRT just ahead of a fight sets a bad precedent and terrible example for budding youngsters as well as for the fans of the UFC in general. Forrest Griffin underwent TRT ahead of his scheduled fight against Ortiz on the 7^th of July, which was the last time that Ortiz stepped inside the UFC Octagon after 15 years with the company. However, the Nevada State Athletic Commission gave Griffin the exemption for his use of TRT, which meant that he would not have to face action for the use of drugs.

TRT is usually common in older athletes, who use the treatment to keep in shape and some of the best Mixed Martial Arts fighters of this generation such as Chael Sonnen, Dan Henderson and many others have been known to use TRT. According to specialists, TRT is a way to boost the levels of testosterone in the body of an ageing fighter to match that of a fighter in his 20s.

And although the proponents of the treatment say that TRT provides a level playing field for athletes who differ in age a lot, Ortiz doesn’t think so and he blasted Forrest Griffin as setting a bad example for the kids. And it seems that Ortiz is already seeking a rematch, provided the UFC agrees with the terms he sets.
